ISC strongly represented at Endeavour Keelboat Trophy
Published 12:48 on 25 Apr 2024
Swallow and Sunbeam teams left the familiar surroundings of Chichester harbour and ventured northeast to Burnham on Crouch, another muddy creek but wider and deeper than our own, in cold and windy conditions for the very beautiful Keelboat Endeavour Trophy. The event brings together 10 National Champions from different Keelboat classes to race in 5 identical 707s in an exciting 30 race format. Saturday kicked off in a fresh 16-23kt northerly with the teams completing 10 races each during the 9 hours on the water. Spinnakers were flown for race one but due to the amount of gear breakage and blustery conditions they remained in the bag for the rest of the racing. Sunday dawned with sunshine but colder and windier than Saturday for the final 5 races to complete the series.
The race management and organisation was impressive, the welcome from the Royal Corinthian was second to none, both teams enjoyed their weekend. Final placings below:
Congratulations to ISC members and Sonata sailors, Andy Pinkham and Will Smyth who snatched third overall in this highly competitive fleet.
