Information for Visitors
Hello and a very warm welcome to you, visiting sailors from both home waters and abroad.
We're delighted that you would like to come to Itchenor and enjoy sailing with us here at our beautiful Club! You may use the facilities at the Club for up to seven days (unless you are visiting for an extended event). All we ask is that you please sign the Visitors' Book on your arrival. Please note that yachtsmen from the UK should be members of clubs or associations recognised by the RYA.
Arriving by Sea
Visitors' Moorings:
There are six clearly marked visitors' swinging moorings off Itchenor Village which are capable of taking six yachts each dependent on size. There are also visitors` pontoon moorings above Itchenor Sailing Club on the south side of the channel. All these moorings, which are owned and administered by the Chichester Harbour Conservancy (Tel. 01243 512301 or VHF Channel 14 Call Sign - Chichester Harbour Patrol) are within easy reach by dinghy from the pontoons of the Club. (The small pontoon at the upstream end of the Club staging is reserved for tenders). A daytime ferry service is provided by a local operator (Tel. 07970 378350 or VHF Channel 8) from Easter's Good Friday through to 31st October.
Anchorage:
The recommended anchorage for Itchenor is on the south side of the Chichester Channel about half a mile below the village west of the green Fairway buoy.
Arriving by Road
Directions:
Visitors should leave the A27 Chichester Bypass at the junction with the A286 which is signposted Bracklesham and the Witterings. At the mini roundabout at Birdham (4.6 miles) take the B2179 signposted West Wittering. The turning to Itchenor is a right-hand turning about half a mile further on the right. Itchenor village is at the end of this road (1.2 Miles) with the private Club Lane leading to the Sailing Club on the right side immediately opposite The Ship public house.
Access and car parking: Cars should be parked in the Public Car Park off the approach road to Northshore Shipyard together with trailers. It is regretted that cars are NOT permitted to use Club Lane (private property over which we have non-vehicular access only). Sailing dinghies can be wheeled down Club Lane but only by hand. Our gate to the staging has a combination lock, please come up to the office to receive the code.
Parking Rates at Chichester Harbour Conservancy Car Park:
After unloading, road trailers must not be left on the stage or in the private road opposite the Ship Inn. Road trailers may be parked in the trailer park on the public hard or in the car park beside Northshore. Road trailers may not be brought onto the Club Stage.
RIBs are not permitted on the staging and cannot be launched or moored at the Club without prior consent - please contact the Sailing Manger to make arrangements.

Sailing activities
Sailing facilities:
Visitors attending open dinghy meetings are asked to advise the Sailing Manager if they require a berth on the dinghy stage. The jetty provides easy launching at all states of the tide. Some trollies (marked ISC) are available but boats should be lifted off them after use. After launching, trollies should be returned to the dinghy berth so that they do not obstruct the launching area.
All competitors and all visitors must comply with the safety, warning notices and conditions in the club rules, notices of race and in the sailing instructions. In particular, competitors when afloat and children under 12 on the harbour side of the wall shall wear adequate personal buoyancy as stipulated, please.
Rallies:
The Club has become well-known for its excellent dining facilities and welcomes rallies from other recognised clubs and associations. Please contact the office for bookings and availability.

All children under 12 on the harbour side of the wall must wear personal buoyancy, for their own safety.
